How do I care for my cushions?

For General Cleaning:

Remove the Cushion Covers: If your cushions have removable Sunbrella fabric covers, gently remove them.

Machine Wash or Hand Wash: You can machine wash the covers on a gentle cycle with mild laundry detergent. Alternatively, hand washing with mild soap and lukewarm water works well too. For both methods, avoid bleach and harsh detergents.

Air Dry: Hang the covers to dry. Do not use a dryer, as high heat can shrink or damage the fabric.

Spot Cleaning for Non-Removable Covers: If the cushion covers cannot be removed, prepare a solution of mild soap and water, lightly dampen a soft cloth or sponge, and gently clean the spot. Rinse with a clean, wet cloth and allow to air dry.

For Deep Cleaning the Cushion Materials:

Reticulated Foam and Polyester Batting: If the inner materials, such as reticulated foam and polyester batting, need cleaning due to spills penetrating the cover:

  1. Gently hand wash with mild soap and lukewarm water.
  2. Press out the excess water gently—do not wring.
  3. Allow the cover to air dry completely before replacing it. Ensure the material is thoroughly dry to avoid mold and mildew development.

Blown Fiber Fill: This material should be spot-cleaned with a damp cloth using mild soap. It's crucial not to soak the fill, as it is more challenging to dry thoroughly. Always air dry.

Additional Care Tips:

Sunbrella Fabric Care: For stubborn stains on Sunbrella fabric, a fabric spot remover or a mix of bleach and water (for white or colorfast fabrics) can be used. Always follow the specific care instructions provided by Sunbrella for the best results.

Avoid Direct Heat and Sunlight While Drying: Although Sunbrella fabric is resistant to fading, direct sunlight can still affect the cushion materials' drying process. Dry in a shaded, well-ventilated area.

Mold and Mildew Prevention: Ensure cushions are dry before storing, and use a breathable cover to prevent moisture accumulation, which can lead to mold and mildew growth.

By following these care instructions, you can keep your cushions in top condition, ensuring they continue to offer comfort and style to your outdoor spaces for years to come.
